So Lifetime has become the most-watched cable television network. How is that possible? Lifetime deems itself as Television for Women, thusly cutting half it's audience off. Their programming is slanted towards women, basically disregarding the whole male gender. Yet this station beat out TNT, which probably has the most varied programming that can be enjoyed by people of all genders and ages. Contrastingly, a male oriented network like ESPN was lower on the list despite having nine of the top 10 rated programs of the year. Does this mean men are becoming more in touch with their sensitivity and defecting to a more women-friendly network?...nah, I doubt that.

What's up with the recent glut of celebrity themed television reality/game shows? There's Celebrity Fear Factor, Celebrity Mole, Celebrity Boxing, Star Dates, The Surreal Life...don't these celebrities have anything better to do? Actually, probably not. When you're TV's Greg Brady or Screech, your career options are pretty limited. They must need a quick buck to pay their bills. And not only do certain celebrities make an appearance on one show but they'll likely appear on more than one show, I cite the afore-mentioned Dustin Diamond and Barry Williams and the always dependable career jobber Stephen Baldwin. What is up with him? He's spared from the fate of #1 jobber Baldwin brother by the fact that Daniel Baldwin exists, but still, he's pretty low on the scale. Why don't these "celebrities" fire their current agents and get somebody that will find them a REAL job?
While I'm on the subject of game shows, don't you hate on Family Feud when someone guesses a horribly bad answer but the rest of the family cheers and says "Good answer! Good answer!" when it's obviously an extremely dumb answer?
Happy New Year! ... I don't really put much stock in New Year's. It's just another day I figure. We only celebrate a new year because we use the Gregorian calendar. I have a friend that celebrates the year that just passed and not the arrival of the next year, and I think that's a much better idea. But that's just my opinion. So...Happy Old Year!
The list of the Most Admired Americans just came out. Some of the most admired Men are: George Bush, Colin Powell, Billy Graham, Bill Clinton, and Al Gore. Some most admired Women are: Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Elizabeth Dole, and Jennifer Lopez. Hmm, one of these things is not like the other... This list is comprised of powerful people, people respected because of their positions of power, and... JLo?! Jennifer Lopez is considered equally as admirable as Condoleeza Rice and Elizabeth Dole?! Seriously, what has she done so great as these people? I mean, sure, Girl on the 6 was one of the finer albums of our time *snicker* and she sure does give us sure-fire award winning movies like Enough *snicker* and other mediocre romantic comedies. But WHY IS SHE ON THIS LIST??? I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with ALL OF AMERICA on this one.
Sometimes I wonder if when I'm older I'll as inept with technology as my elders are. Nowadays I can do everything: CD, DVD, MP3, computer, internet, camera, stereo, alarms, buttons, list goes on. But my parents/grandparents are especially clueless about these things. I consider myself quite technologically adaptable, but you never know what kind of things are going to come out in the future. Am I going to be saying "These kids and their new-fangled gadgets! Why, I remember when my computer used to run at 2 Ghz over a phone line by gawd!" Am I going to have to ask my kids for help on every little thing? Am I going to be outmoded by the time I'm 40? ...yeah, probably.
