JEWEL DENIAL

In Jewel's new song "Intuition" (which is a funny and innovative video by the way) she sings "I'm just a simple girl/In a high-tech digital world." Now come on. In all the years she's been in the spotlight, she's still a "simple" girl? She hasn't become jaded and cynical by all the music label and Hollywood politicking? I think it's time to retire the "simple girl" schtick. Maybe when she was living in Alaska in a van and singing on the street she had a simple life, but I don't think she can make that claim any more. Give it up Jewel!

So it appears that Shakira is Pepsi's new spokesperson since she's in all the commercials now. Does she really have enough clout to sell Pepsi? Probably a lot of people don't even know who she is. Pepsi is always trying to get the "hot, young artists" to promote their product. First, in the 80s, it was Michael Jackson. But then he became a child molester--excuse me, alleged child molester--and he was gone. Then Madonna came, but she made a controversial video and she was gone too. Then there was Britney Spears, who I don't think did anything wrong, it was just that nobody liked those cutesy commercials, so she was gone. And finally, here's Shakira. What will she do that contrasts with the values of Pepsi Co. Only time will tell my friends...

X2

I saw X2 tonight. My verdict--awesome. Just as I expected it to be. I'm such a geek, aren't I? The only thing that hampered my experience was the cackling laugh coming from behind me at parts that weren't really even funny. It just had to be a loud, cackling laugh too, it couldn't be a normal one. Grrr...

UH-OH! OREOS

Right now I'm eating some of those Uh-Oh! Oreos, with the chocolate creme in the middle and vanilla cookies. They're good, but I'd hardly call them "revolutionary." Wow, you flipped the flavors?? Brilliant! *sarcasm* Just another product to make money on. But oh they're good.

ODD STUFF I LIKE

Here are some things that I like that people wouldn't necessarily expect of me:

1) Horse Racing. I like watching horse racing. While I don't watch much of it, I do watch the Triple Crown races. It's the most exciting minute and a half in sports! I had picked Peace Rules to win, but he came in third. Not bad for an amateur though, right?

2) Coldplay. I thought these guys were a couple of whiny Brits, and perhaps they are, but I really like 'em! Their songs are quite addictive. I cite "Daylight," "Clocks," and "God Put a Smile Upon My Face." Well played lads!

3) He-Man and The Masters of the Universe. The movie. I like this flick. Sure, it's super cheesy, has some pretty bad acting (Dolph Lundgren anyone?), and wasn't faithful to the He-Man mythos, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm quite lame aren't I?

GONE...LIKE A WHISPER IN THE NIGHT

So New Hampshire's Old Man in the Mountain crumbled. That's too bad, it was really cool. Now the governor claims he is going to "revitalize" it. Now that is the DUMBEST thing I have ever heard. The whole reason it was cool was because nature created it. Who wants to go look at a manmade creation? I can see those everywhere I look. Dang it, if nature built it, then nature can take it down if it wants to! It's nature for cry Pete! It's the natural way of things. This is New Hampshire trying to hold on to its one icon. I'm sorry, but just remember that Mt. Rushmore is crumbling too, so all of South Dakota sympathizes with you.
